News for Sunday, November 7, 2010

Welcome to November! It's almost Advent season - such an exciting time at church!

Some of you filled out registration forms for your children this week. If you haven't received one, please find me and get one next week. We need a registration form filled out for every child in Sunday School, Children's Church, Inspire, or the nursery. I also need Permission to Publish forms filled out this year so we can take pictures for bulletin boards, art projects, etc. I won't be posting pictures of the children on this blog. We also need permission to publish because we are ustreaming children's sermons (and other parts of church) online. If you don't wish for your children to be on ustream, you will need to keep them sitting with you away from the camera during children's time or find some other arrangement you are comfortable with. Please come talk to me if you have any questions.

We are collecting items for Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan's Purse. We will be packing a shoe box, or two or three to send to a needy child worldwide. Here is the mission statement of Samaritan's Purse: To demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Isn't that awesome?!? I'd like to fill 4 boxes: 1 for a girl and 1 for a boy aged 2-4, and 1 for a girl and 1 for a boy aged 5-9.
Here is a list of suggested donation items:

Toys: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jumpropes, small Etch-A-Sketchs', slinkys, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries)

School Supplies: pens, pencils, sharpeners, crayons, markers, stamp and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, coloring books, etc

Hygiene Items: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap (in a bag), washcloth, comb, etc

Other: hard candy and lollipops, mints, gum, T-Shirts, socks, ballcaps, sunglasses, hairclips, toy jewelery, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)

DO NOT INCLUDE: used or damaged items, war related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures, chocolate or food, out of date candy, liquids or lotions, medication or vitamins, breakable items, aerosol cans

Please bring in items for the shoe boxes Sunday, November 7th, 14th or 21st.

Thank you!
